I want to thank all those club members that made it out to our January meeting. It was a great way to kick off the New Year. Bill King did a fantastic job and was very informative. We hope to have many more speakers throughout the year the caliber of Bill. We have many events coming up, beginning with this month's Dart Tournament at the Dugout on Saturday, February 15th. I hope to see a lot of participants at this fun event and Tom Mason does a great job putting this together. If the basketball team can polish off the Wildcats in Lexington that night it will cap off a great Saturday! Speaking of the basketball team, it is great to see Chris Walker finally allowed to play. I know a lot of fans have been waiting months to see this happen the team has been doing pretty good without him, but you can never have too many bodies come tournament time, and it's pretty nice to have a McDonald's All-American and future NBA star coming off your bench.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for Saturday, April 26th for the first ever Luau at the Lake in Marion County on beautiful Lake Weir. Wade Tackett is putting together a great event and has an awesome committee helping out. We're looking to bring a lot of exposure for our club to the people of Ocala and Marion County. And, if you're a golfer, or know someone that is, please make sure you circle May 17th on your calendar for our annual FGTC Golf Tournament at Ironwood in Gainesville. We're shooting for a record turnout this year and there will be a great raffle and lunch afterwards. Any club member that would like to get involved and help out in any of our events throughout the year would sure be welcomed to do so. We can never have too much help in planning and carrying out these functions.
As I mentioned last month, try and encourage friends or co-workers (or even family members) to come out to a meeting and see what we're all about. We want to continue to grow this club and the best way for that to happen is to have guests come to a meeting and see for themselves. Please feel free to offer suggestions or ideas to myself or anyone else on the Board. That's what we're here for. Hope to see everyone at this month's meeting on Thursday night, February 27th.
